OLYMPICS
The Olympics are estimated to have begun around the early 700 BC.These games that were held at the Olympics were supposed to honor the god, Zeus along with the other gods. When these events happened women were not allowed to
watch. The only way that you could participate was if you were a Greek National. There were many events, but the most famous games took place every four years at Olympia which is South-West of Greece. The games had a time period of a one-day festival whichconsisted of athletics and wrestling. There were four main different races; the first race was stadion, which was the oldest event at the games. The other two races were a 2-stade race and a long-distance run that would go from 6 to 24 stades. Finally the four race involved runners wearing full amour, which was used to build up speed and stamina. After the horse races were held, the pentathlon was held. The pentathlon was a series of five events; sprinting, long-jumping, javelin-hurling, discus-throwing, and finally wrestling.
